Music Room Lesson Program
Music Room prides itself on its lesson program. Keeping the education of our musicians in the front and center has been our focus for decades. Our students have become lifelong music hobbyists, music teachers and professional performers. Our students have played in local ensembles, auditioned on America's Got Talent and The Voice, sung the National Anthem at sports games, toured the country performing, made it to Broadway, and have made music the largest passion in their lives.
And this is all due to the inspiration and nurturing from our incredible staff.
Every staff member has at least a Bachelor's degree. Half of us have Master's degrees in music. We are an ecclectic mix of many skills in music, can teach all instruments, and most of us consider ourselves to be music theory nerds. Occasionally you may witness some sort of creative musical shenanigan happening from a lesson room, as we creatively use music to make ourselves laugh.
Each calendar year features at least three performance opportunities. We have a picnic recital every year at the Lancaster Youth Bureau Bandshell, holiday recitals at local senior living centers, a biennial In-House Competition with trophies and an awards banquet dinner, a biennial Halloween Masterclass, and sometimes more.
We keep our program very simple. There's no registration fees, no contracts, no committed amounts of time. Admission is rolling, and payments are weekly unless some other arrangement is worked out with the instructor. Payments are accepted in cash, check, and often Venmo, Paypal, Zelle, and by card, depending on the instructor. Lessons are in-person, virtual, or a mix of each, depending on need. Lesson rates start at $25 per half hour and vary by instructor.
It is the expectation that every missed lesson will be either paid for or made up, at the discretion of the instructor.

Ray Ball

My name is Raymond Ball. I have been writing and performing on a number of instruments for over 20 years. I hold a degree in ethnomusicology, where I primarily focused on American folk music. Fun fact-I was 19 the first time a song I wrote was played on the radio. I have been teaching on several different instruments for about 1 year, and have been involved with a string band. I also often perform in public venues around WNY from time to time.
